The virtual training programme which took place on the 15th of May 2020 was brought about by a need for a quick intervention to address the current information crisis in the country with regards the COVID-19 pandemic. LANI Foundation in partnership with Breakthrough Action-Nigeria and in conjunction with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) organized this 1-day training based on a needs assessment survey to close this information gap. This training centred on ensuring effective reporting on COVID-19 via various media channels across various groups of people especially in the grassroots in order to improve compliance with safety directives in Nigeria.

Impact: Over 74 FRCN participants and other media personnel were trained and furnished with information and skills needed to provide effective and factual reports on the pandemic via Zoom.

This was an essential workshop as it helped facilitate effective learning environment for children and equipped the Sunday school teachers with the capacity to control and manage the classroom from the beginning to the end of classes, thereby maximising the quality and quantity of knowledge acquired by the children.

HOME OF GOD’S GRACE MISSION ORPHANAGE LIBRARY

LANI Foundation commenced the New Year with the support for literacy advancement initiative. To support early childhood education and literacy advancement of children, LANI Foundation kicked of 2014 with the commencement of her “Literacy Advancement Initiative”. With the support of her volunteers and donors within and outside the country, a library was installed at the Home of God’s Grace Mission Agbowa (HGGM), Ikorodu. The library provides educational, recreational and cultural resources for children aged 2-17yrs.

The library contains a large collection of picture books, story books and nonfictional books. HGGM is an orphanage with 53 children in resident. It was set up by Mrs Grace Moboluwajoko in 1992 to support widows and orphaned children. In the coming months, reading, spelling and life skill programmes will hold to ensure effective use of services. The foundation is grateful to our dedicated volunteers and donors for supporting this initiative. The next phase will be a library installation in Cross River State.
